Why Buy Autogas

The use of autogas, or liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), as a fuel for automobiles is gaining traction as a viable, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly alternative to traditional petrol. Autogas is a by-product of natural gas processing and petroleum refining, and it is a safe, clean-burning fuel with a high octane rating that can be used petrol engines.

Autogas is quickly becoming the go-to fuel for a range of great reasons.

Availability of Autogas

When it comes to availability, autogas is widely available in the United Kingdom and other countries around the world. It is produced in both the United Kingdom and abroad. Additionally, autogas is often used as a fuel source in industrial applications, such as forklifts trucks, which means autogas is often readily available to consumers.

Affordability of Autogas

Compared to petrol, autogas is significantly cheaper to purchase and use. Autogas typically costs about 50% less than petrol, and since it is a clean-burning fuel, it produces fewer pollutants, resulting in lower emissions and improved fuel economy. Additionally, the cost of converting a vehicle to use autogas is typically much lower than converting a vehicle to use an alternative fuel source.

Environmental Benefits of Autogas

Autogas is a clean-burning fuel that produces fewer emissions than gasoline, making it a better option for reducing air pollution. Autogas also produces fewer greenhouse gases than gasoline, making it an attractive option for those looking to reduce their carbon footprint.

Autogas LPG – A Great Choice

Overall, autogas is a viable and cost-effective alternative to gasoline that has a variety of benefits. Autogas is widely available, affordable, and has significant environmental benefits, making it a great choice for those looking to reduce their carbon footprint and save money on fuel costs.

LPG as a fuel for vehicles

The use of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) as a fuel for vehicles is becoming increasingly popular due to its affordability and environmental benefits. LPG is a clean-burning, non-toxic, odourless and non-polluting fuel. It is easy to use and is widely available throughout many countries.

The cost of LPG is significantly lower than that of diesel or petrol. The cost savings can be even greater when LPG is used for commercial vehicles, such as taxis, delivery vans and lorries. As the price of petrol and diesel continues to rise, LPG becomes a more attractive option for vehicle owners.

In terms of environmental benefits, LPG is considered to be one of the cleanest burning fuels available.

It produces fewer greenhouse gases than petrol and diesel, and does not contain any sulphur or other pollutants. As a result, LPG vehicles produce fewer emissions than petrol or diesel vehicles, making them a more eco-friendly option. In terms of performance, LPG vehicles do not sacrifice power or speed. Modern LPG systems are designed to deliver the same level of performance as petrol or diesel vehicles. In fact, LPG is generally considered to be more efficient at converting fuel into power, making it an ideal choice for those looking for increased fuel efficiency.

Finally, LPG is an easy and straightforward fuel to use. Many vehicles can be converted to run on LPG, and refuelling points are widely available. The fuel is easy to store and transport, making it a convenient option for both home and commercial users.

Setup your own LPG Station Today

Pure LPG have setup a number of Autogas/ LPG stations for businesses and individual users. Whether you are looking for a small tank for your own vehicles or want to setup a full commercial scale Autogas station contact us to help.
We have setup a number of independent LPG stations in recent years as popularity and demand for LPG cars increases. The main components in a LPG station are:

  • LPG Bulk Storage Tank
  • Motor/Pump
  • LPG Dispenser
  • Filling Hoses
  • Safety Devices

LPG Autogas Tanks

LPG Tanks – bulk LPG tanks come in various sizes, a 1 tonne tank holds 2,000 litres, most LPG stations have a number of 1 tonne tanks connected together. We can also provide 2 tonne (4,000 litre) or 4 tonne (8,000 litre) tanks. Tanks for Autogas use are different than those used for heating. They require a bottom offtake so that liquid can be drawn off rather than vapour from the top of the tank.

Pipes connect the liquid LPG from the bottom of the bulk storage tank to a motor / pump, this increases the pressure and provides the adequate flowrate to fill the tank in the car.

Gas Dispenser

The LPG passes through a dispenser which is similar to those found in petrol station forecourts, this contains a measurement device that accurately measures the amount of gas passing into the dispenser and out in to the customers vehicle. A display reads out the amount of litres and corresponding price of the gas.

Pure LPG have sole distribution rights to the latest LPG Autogas dispensers to the UK market.

The dispensers are fully temperature calibrated meaning that they automatically take into account the ambient temperature to ensure high accuracy. Most LPG dispensers are not calibrated. Our brand new LPG dispensers come in single and twin mode meaning it is possible to fill two cars at the same time with two individual displays.

A filling hose is used to dispense Autogas/LPG to the vehicle, it is connected from the dispenser. The filling hose is rated at 25 bar pressure and has a filling gun with a bayonet type filler connected to it.

Autogas Safety

A number of safety devices are used in a Autogas/LPG station installation. These include; safety breakaway coupling that prevents a vehicle driving away with the filling hose (this device detaches the hose from the dispenser ensuring that the dispenser is not ripped away from the ground and also prevents any gas leakage). Other safety devices included are pressure relief valves that protect the tank from excess pressure. Filters that prevent any impurities from entering the customers vehicle. All hoses carrying liquid LPG rated to 25 bar pressure. Adequate crash barrier protection such as Armco.

All installations carried out by Pure LPG are done according to relevant safety legislation including LiquidGasUK codes of practices and inline with HSE guidance. As well as taking care of all the installation, Pure LPG also provide fuel supply at a price that cannot be beaten, with regular reliable deliveries.
